Ken James Story
Ken James was born in Sydney NSW. On 16 November 1948 He attended
Cleveland St boys high school receiving his leaving certificate
at the end of 5 years of high school.
During his
schooling he joined the Air Force cadets moving to the ranks
of flight sergeant. He was voted by his peers to become a school
prefect a role he enjoyed in his last year at school.
An avid sportsman he represented his school in Football, basket
ball swimming and diving.
Current Work
Ken is currently doing special projects for the Chief Executive of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Actor
At the age of 12 Ken was introduced to acting by a neighbour
who saw a newspaper add calling for child models /actors to
join the agency.
Ken’s interest in school plays gave him the impetus to
seek out this agency it was then he was represented by his first
agent Gloria Peyton of International Casting Service.
Kens first Television show was called The Adventures made for
channel 7 at Artransa Park television studios in Sydney. On
completing his schooling Ken Auditioned for the role of Mark
Hammond in the Skippy TV series. The production company FAUNA
Productions made a pilot episode and set about trying to sell
the series. In the mean time Ken wanted to have a career as
an actor so he auditioned for the national institute of dramatic
art. Known as NIDA.

He was successful
at his first audition and was offered a scholarship to train.
Soon after he started the course the producers found a buyer
for the Skippy series and Ken was offered the role. Three and
a half year later the star Ed Deveraux (Matt Hammond) Tony
Bonner (Jerry King) Gary Pankhurst (Sonny Hammond) and Lisa
Goddard as (Clancy Merick) had appeared in 92 episodes and
a feature film. Many Australian actors made guest appearances
and Skippy went on to be one of the most popular Australians
TV shows ever made. |
